SEO in Southport, with the receipts

Most SEO pages promise. This one shows. Below is exactly what we did for one Southport workshop, what it ranks for today, and screenshots of every claim — captured in an incognito browser on 30 July 2026 so you can check any of it yourself.

The starting point

Games Console Repair Southport is a one-man micro-soldering workshop that has been trading since 2009. Genuinely skilled at the work, excellent reviews, and effectively invisible in search. The classic position for a good local business: the people who already knew about it could find it, and nobody else could.

The competition was not other small workshops. It was national mail-in companies with large budgets, and chains like CeX — who quote up to seven working days against a workshop that can do same-day.

What we built

A hand-coded site — no template, no WordPress — structured so that both Google and AI assistants can read exactly what the business does, where, and for how much.

  • 27 pages, 25,673 words. Dedicated pages per console and per fault, not one thin services page.
  • Nine town pages. Southport, Formby, Ormskirk, Burscough, Rufford, Tarleton, Skelmersdale, Leyland and Preston — each with genuinely local content, real drive times and its own custom route map generated from the Google Directions API. Not spun duplicates.
  • Fixed public pricing. A deliberate differentiator when competitors hide behind quote forms — and, as it turned out, the thing AI assistants quote back to customers.
  • Full structured data. LocalBusiness on 25 pages, FAQPage on 25, BreadcrumbList on 24, Service on 23 — all validating cleanly.
  • An llms.txt file and explicit AI-crawler permissions, so assistants can read the site as a primary source.
  • Technical discipline. Enforced canonical policy, full security headers, accessibility 97, best practices 100, SEO 100.

What it ranks for now

Ten search terms at position one. On the main money term, the business holds the entire top four results — a competitor cannot appear without the searcher scrolling.

Position one for ps5 repair southport, games console repair southport, xbox repair southport, nintendo switch repair southport, hdmi port repair southport, and for PS5 repair in Formby, Ormskirk, Burscough, Tarleton and Rufford. First in the local map pack on nine terms.

Skelmersdale, Leyland and Preston sit at positions two, three and four. Those are the three newest towns added — shown here as they are, because a page like this is worth nothing if it only reports the wins.

Across three months the site drew 807 distinct search queries, with a 19.6% click-through rate on its main term — a figure only achievable from the top of page one.

And what the AI assistants now say

This is where SEO and GEO meet. Ask Google's AI Mode about HDMI port repair in Southport and it names this workshop first out of 33 sources — then quotes its prices, turnaround and address.

Those figures are not Google guessing. £60 for PS5, £70 for Xbox Series X, £50 for Series S, same-day before 2pm, six-month warranty — every one is lifted word for word from the FAQPage structured data on the site. That is what the markup is for.

Perplexity does the same, naming the workshop first with address, opening hours and phone number, each line cited back to the site.

Why someone drove two hours

The most useful number on this page is not a ranking. It is a review.

A five-star review from a customer who drove down from the Lake District.

“I drove down from the Lake District because I couldn’t find a reliable business that specialises in console repairs in my area… Dropped them off at 01:30PM and the job was done in under two hours.”

Two hours each way — longer than the repair itself — past what must be dozens of repair shops closer to home. Nobody drives two hours for a commodity. They drive two hours because they searched, they found one business, they read the reviews, and they decided nobody nearer was worth risking their console on.

Another customer came from Lytham St Annes for the same reason.

That is what being the trusted result actually buys. Not just the local jobs you would have got anyway, but reach that makes distance irrelevant. A website stops being a brochure and starts being the thing that decides whether customers know you exist at all.

What the work actually involves

  • Technical audit. Crawl the site as a search engine sees it — redirects, canonicals, status codes, structure. Most sites have faults nobody has ever looked for.
  • Fix the foundations. Broken redirect chains, duplicate URLs, canonical tags pointing at the wrong page. Unglamorous and usually where the damage is.
  • Structure the content. A page per thing you actually do, written to answer the question someone is searching, rather than one page listing everything.
  • Location pages that earn their place. Real local detail, not a template with the town name swapped.
  • Structured data. LocalBusiness, Service, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList — so search engines and AI assistants read facts instead of inferring them.
  • Measure honestly. Search Console, real positions, real click-through rates. Reported as they are.

SEO or GEO?

SEO gets you into Google's results. GEO gets you quoted by ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI Mode. The console repair site does both, and the screenshots above show each in action. If it is specifically the AI side you are interested in, that has its own page here.

Common questions

How much does SEO cost in Southport?

Draxiq works to a fixed scope rather than an open-ended monthly retainer. You get a written audit, the technical fixes, the page build and the structured data as a defined piece of work, so you know what you are paying for before it starts. Get in touch for a quote against your site.

How long does SEO take to work?

Technical fixes are picked up within days. Rankings move over weeks to months, depending on how competitive the term is and how much authority the site already has. On the Games Console Repair Southport build, location pages added later reached the top of page one for their towns, and the three most recent additions sit at positions two, three and four while they mature.

Do you only work with Southport businesses?

No. The work is done remotely and the same methods apply anywhere. Southport is where the workshop is and where most local clients are, but the technical work does not depend on location.

What is the difference between SEO and GEO?

SEO gets you ranked in Google's blue links. GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) gets you quoted by AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI Mode. They overlap heavily — clean structured data helps both — but they are measured differently and need different checks.

Can you prove your SEO work actually delivers?

Yes, and that is the point of this page. Every ranking claim here was captured in an incognito browser on 30 July 2026 and is shown as a screenshot rather than asserted. The underlying traffic figures come from Google Search Console.

Do I need a new website, or can you optimise the one I have?

Either. Some sites need rebuilding because the underlying structure fights every attempt to rank. Others need technical fixes, better structure and proper markup on what is already there. The audit tells you which situation you are in before any building starts.

What is structured data and why does it matter?

Structured data is machine-readable markup describing your business — what you do, where you are, your prices, your opening hours. It is why Google's AI can quote a repair price to a customer without them ever visiting the site. Without it, search engines guess.

Will you make claims about rankings you cannot back up?

No. Where a number could not be verified it has been left out of this page entirely, and where results are mixed they are shown as they are — including the three towns where the site currently ranks second, third and fourth rather than first.

How it's priced

Two ways to work, depending on whether your site needs fixing once or looking after.

  • One-off SEO rebuild. The audit, the technical fixes, the page structure and the structured data, done as a defined piece of work. You own it, there is nothing to cancel.
  • £25 a month for twelve months. Ongoing work across a full year — search is not a job you finish, and rankings move as competitors move. Suits businesses that want it kept on top of rather than done once.

Which makes sense depends on your site. The audit tells us that before either of us commits to anything.

Want this for your business?

If you are a Southport business that is good at what you do and invisible in search, that is a fixable problem. It is the same problem the console workshop had.
